So this Sunday in Ireland was the hottest weather we had in a very long time. Sitting out in the sun – 22-24 º C was the temperature according to my iPhone. Surfing out side on my iPad seemed like a novel idea. Until 5 minutes in. I got this message “iPad needs to cool down before you can use it”.
Come on Apple, seriously, you are more or less saying we can’t use our iPad outside! If the weather is good the iPad overheats, and we wont use them outside if it is bad obviously.
Is the iPad an indoor only device? My iPhone did not seem to mind the good weather. This is what Apple has to say on the issue:
Operate iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPad in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause the device to temporarily stop working properly.
Anyone else take their iPad out in this good weather? It seems the iPad does not like it hot!

- Leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time.
- Using certain features in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods of time, such as GPS tracking in a car on a sunny day or listening to music while in direct sunlight.
