Vodafone Ireland has today started selling the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs. With device prices ranging from Free to  €299, and price plans ranging from €35 to €100, this is the second network to offer the iPhone officially in Ireland, with O2 having previously an exclusive contract.

Every plan comes with unlimited free Vodafone to Vodafone calls & texts and 2GB of data.
On Perfect Choice Access + 150 and above, you also get inclusive minutes & texts to any network.

When this reporter tried to order a device the online website was unfortunately down, but this is bound to increase Apple’s iPhone sales, as Vodafone is one of the most popular networks in Ireland. Vodafone Ireland is also to offer tethering on the iPhone, which is using  your device as a modem to access the internet on your laptop. This would cost an additional €9.99 for 1GB allowance, in addition to an iPhone plan.

Press Release

Vodafone Ireland today announced it will launch iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G in Ireland on March 25 with a range of 3G tariff plans tailored for iPhone customers, supported by Ireland’s number-one network. iPhone 3G 8GB will be free for all qualifying upgrades and new customers on the Perfect Choice Access 500 and 700 plans (starting from €80 per month).

iPhone 3GS is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet, packed with incredible new features including improved speed and performance – up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G – with longer battery life, a high-quality 3 megapixel autofocus camera, easy to use video recording and hands free voice control. The groundbreaking App Store provides access to more than 140,000 applications from games to social networking to financial planning and health management, generating more than 3 billion downloads to date. iPhone is now available in over 80 countries around the world.

“We are thrilled to offer iPhone and showcase its outstanding features on the country’s number-one network,” said Vodafone Ireland CEO Charles Butterworth. “Vodafone’s 2.3 million Irish customers will enjoy great value with a range of compelling plans including free Vodafone-to-Vodafone calls and texts as well as 2GB of data per month across all plans.”
