LG U400, originally uploaded by johnmryan.

One of my favourite forums had a question about the Three Mobile network, and some people had some bad experiences with the network. However, these bad experiences related directly to a faulty mobile phone that the network used, so I guess it’s not to fair to rate the network based on one faulty phone, although obviously the network is responsible for making sure the phones they use are compatible with their network. To get to the point, I’m going to write my review of my three mobile phone the LG U400 3G phone on the three Ireland mobile network.

Design: The design of the LG U400 is pretty unique, LG seem to know what’s sexy when it comes to design, and the phone is black with a ‘jog’ dial which allows you to scroll through the menu options, this makes to phone look super and sleek. The U400 is a slider phone, sliding open the phone will give you access to the number keys.

Usability: The phones navigation system is simple to follow, it uses a simple menu to navigate through all the phones feature, however the ‘jog’ dail can be very jumpy and awkward to use at times, its very easy to hit off another key by accident. Aside from this the phone is straight forward when it comes to usability, there is easy access to Planet 3 (restricted internet access service RIAS which is very annoying) from the main screen. There is a button on the side of the phone which activates the camera.

Features: MP3 Player, Camera ( 2.0 MegaPixel), Planet 3 (music downloads, with access to comedy features and the usual way stuff – was well as access to pre-approved websites (currently very restricitive), plus the usual alarm clock and ring tones stuff.

Size: 100 x 48 x 20 mm
