Rip Off Ireland & Employment for Business Students
Hello,
Its’ been some time since I last posted. Which is, lets face it usual for me. It was some time back in May when I last posted an update. Since then I have worked in , Xerox and the Government, all contract positions, although I was asked to stay on in Xerox I declined, as it was just a "filler job". For a Business Graduate going on to the workplace, its not so simple! Now my career plans/ ideas get more complicated. I have been considering moving to the UK, in the hopes that I can get a fairly good job, and hopefully go back to college. However not really knowing anyone in Manchester is a bit of a stopper. My Business Degree is not a bad thing to have, but I am not sure if I directly want to advance it. So I am thinking of doing either a web design course or a media course of some sort. I have always wanted to do some sort of Media Course, due to my interest in Television production and presentation. You are told in school, you will know what you want when you finish, then select a course. But that’s not true. Take a friend of mine working in Marketing, after doing a law degree, who is looking for the "perfect job". Does it exist? For me the perfect job, sees me self employed. Which is of course an expensive thing. But my eyes are open for some Business opportunity, but Ireland can be so expensive, as demonstrated by a new RTE Television show.
It is a very interesting show staring a one "Eddie Hobbs’, a hit show called Rip Off Republic which puts various financial topics under the spotlight. Tonight that light is on transport.
- "The programme has drawn angry criticism from Government ministers and backbenchers over its portrayal of them as the reason for consumer woes. More than 665,000 watched the most recent instalment on August 15, a record summer viewer ship. Tonight’s show - on RTE One (Ireland) at 9.30pm - will highlight the tax income generated by the Government from motorists. By adding together levies such as VAT, vehicle registration tax, motor tax, vat on fuel, tolls and fuel excise, over Euro 4 billion is raised annually." (source Niall Murray the Irish examiner).
In other internet news ‘Something Human’ discussion forums are back up and running, this time with a new flavour. I hope to post updates regarding Mac computers, web-design, and general TV discussion topics in there for discussion. At the moment of posting there are 48 members on these forums, and a hell of allot of topics, this is because the database is from stationmatrix, an old forum I used to run, so members of the former community can still use there ID and passwords. The forums are called talk24, nothing to do with the television show 24 though I am afraid. Also I have also been spending allot of time on implementing various scripts for silentcode.net a site owned by an acquaintance! Check them out http://somethinghuman.net/talk24 http://silentcode.net/
