Baby on Board?

Blog General

2004-4-poswomen.gifSomeone explain this one to me please, why do people put up those baby on Board signs? There are so many in cars around Limerick! I mean, if you are driving are car, and get road rage and say, I’m going to raaaaaam that car in front of me into the nearest ditch! But as you approach it you see a baby on board sign, so, you say shit I better slow down there is a baby in that car… humm i’ll find another car with no sign on it, although there may still be a child in the car, I have no way of knowing, yes that will be my defense in court. BUT JUDGE ‘THEY’ HAD NO SIGN UP?

People are just strange (yes i know i am one to talk after that strange rant…)

The reason for the baby on board sign is to show the position of the baby in the car… In other words if the sign is on the left then the baby is sitting in the backseat on the left side… Therefore, if you are about to have a collision with one of these cars, the sign is supposed to indicate to try and swerve a bit to only hit the right side of the car instead. It is just a tool to help a little baby avoid getting hit. I don’t see why people think it is stupid to hang one in their car… or why others might want to take the precaution of doing so. It can only help the situation. I am sure that they would rather have their cars looking good (with no decals and cheesy stuff all over it) but sometimes you have to take other things into consideration.

The real reason for the signs are to show the emergency services that there is a child/baby in the car if the car is involved in an accident. Not so that people can avoid hitting the cars on that particular side!
