Ryanair’s marketing people are to be commended, this obviously hasn’t a leg to stand on (ahhhh a pun)

Ryanair Holdings may offer free flights to passengers willing to stand up during flights of less than 90 minutes, Sky News reported, citing chief executive Michael O’Leary.

Ryanair is asking Boeing about converting planes or delivering a new fleet with a section of “vertical seating”’ that would allow passengers to stand or to sit on bar stools similar to those in trains’ dining cars, Sky reported Mr O’Leary as saying in an interview.

Mr O’Leary said he got the idea from a similar concept that China’s Spring Airlines is reportedly looking at, Sky News said, adding that the airline said any move would have to be approved by the Irish Aviation Authority.

Raw started on RTE 2 last week, with the second episode yesterday. I was shocked that RTE produced such a good drama (to begin with). It is very entertaining. When you consider past attempts at home made RTE productions such as Fair City, you must congratulate them on it.

Raw is set in a restaurant, which I passed a few times on Camden street, while under the impression that a new restaurant was opening soon, I just realised this was the outside set for the show.

Dissapointingly there only seems to be six episodes in the making, and you can watch them online also, once they have aired on RTE 2.

Jojo’s life is Raw, the thriving Dublin restaurant where she works as a commis chef. In this kitchen, Jojo has finally found the perfect outlet for all her pent up energy – she loves the camaraderie and the intense adrenaline buzz of life in a restaurant and, most of all, working there has awakened her passion for food and cooking. It’s not perfect of course – Tanya, the restaurant manager is constantly stressed, and always on Jojo’s case, while Tanya’s husband and head chef Mal, is a wayward genius, with the emphasis heavily on the wayward. Sous chef Geoff is Australian, gay and, during a service, without doubt the hardest taskmaster Jojo has ever worked for. But she gets on with virtually all the staff – Pavel, the shy Czech waiter, even Tiny the huge, silent African kitchen porter. And then there’s her best friend and housemate Bobby – Raw’s head barman and Dublin’s chief womaniser, who now seems to be falling for student waitress Rebecca. But what Jojo can’t figure out, or doesn’t want to think about, is why the thought of Bobby and Rebecca together bothers her so much. Into this mix arrives Shane, Jojo’s older and supposedly more sensible brother looking to her to sort him out.

In the name of the Fada

In the name of the Fada premiered on RTE TWO yesterday (well premiered may be a bit of an overstatement its not a bloody film). Finally an attempt at brining some interest to the Irish Language to Ireland’s bebo generation. I have to say I loved the show, it follows Des Bishop as he tries to learn Irish with the idea that he will do a gig in Irish at the end of the 11 months learning process. In order to do this he moves to Connemara’s Gaeltacht area.

Its pretty funny and very enjoyable from what I have seen, although at times, I do feel a little insulted at his jibes of the Irish language, but its all in the name of the ‘craic’. What makes it more interesting is that as he arrived in Ireland in his teens, having lived in NYC previously, he did not lean Irish in school so its a new process to him, and a somewhat rediscovery of what it means to be Irish, he also investigates why so many Irish second level students resist learning Irish so much, inferring that the Irish curriculum
may be to blame.

A show to watch out for. You can watch it online also on RTE Live.

I recently, and as I often do, sent a picture to the wonderfully cool flickr tool, using my motorola vodafone Phone, however Vodafone sent an additional image and information that included my phone number to the website, which of course was published on the internet!

I am really pissed off about this, I don’t mind the ad too much, as we are all getting used to being spammed to hell, but putting my phone number on the end is just too much! So I mailed them about it.

To be fair to Vodafone Ireland, I have always found them very helpful and great mobile phone provider, but this boiled my blood a bit too much…

I use my phone to send picture messages to my website. However today I noticed that you have also sent an ad, which INCLUDED MY PHONE NUMBER.

What I am most annoyed with is the fact you sent my phone number with this MMS, and also you sent an additional promotional image. I would have appreciated it if you advised me you were doing this!

Star Trek: Enterprise Cancelled!

Well, it has happened…

I never warmed to it, and i don’t really consider it Star Trek, it could have been good, if it was built on a good idea, but it fell in on itself really. Although i did enjoy the Pilot..

UPN and Paramount Network Television have jointly announced that this will be the final season of Star Trek: Enterprise on UPN. [Production will continue until the end of this season, which will finish shooting in March.] The series finale will air on Friday, May 13, 2005.

“Star Trek has been an important part of UPN’s history, and Enterprise has carried on the tradition of its predecessors with great distinction,” said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, UPN. “We’d like to thank Rick Berman, Brannon Braga and an incredibly talented cast for creating an engaging, new dimension to the Star Trek universe on UPN, and we look forward to working with them, and our partners at Paramount Network Television, on a send-off that salutes its contributions to The Network and satisfies its loyal viewers.”
