I hate your blog- What to do if someone hates your blog!
What I love about other bloggers is they can be very good at providing feedback. I find this a great tool for improving myself as a blogger and making tweaks to my sites to improve quality and also correcting errors that I missed previously. However it is important to remember that these should only be used as a guideline and not as a control.
For example, one of my blogs which has a very loyal readership, is getting a, what I would call decent amount of traffic, and also has a nice feed subscriber rate. One person commented that this site was simply an attempt to gain money through Google Adsense, and that the content on the site was very poor. On review, I disagree with his comment on the content, I have a few writers and the site has been running for some time and always had a loyal readership. But his comment on the Adsense ads got me wondering, and when I stood back I did realise that the ads were affecting the flow of the website, so I decided to correct that error.
In the above example, I used the comments by this blogger to improve the problem with the site, but I also applied a filter to his comments, which obviously were from someone with no interested in the chosen topic on the blog. If I had listened to the comments on this website, I would have closed down the site and moved on, that would have made those comments ‘a control’.
You must remember that the main control in your blog is you. You will always get comments on the site, and often negative comments, remember to use these as a strength to improve your blogging technique and not to take what is said as accurate, unless you feel that there is some merit to the comment made.
More importantly, if you are blogging about something you like, there will always be someone who may hate that topic, and will hate the fact even more if you are making money on the topic!
